Contributing to your Village Hall

100 Club - a great way for you to support the village hall with the added bonus of the chance to win a cash prize every month. Email poughillvillagehall100club@gmail.com to fill out a membership form. A membership fee is required; this fee will buy you one or more membership numbers, which will be entered into the monthly prize draw (age 16+). The monthly prize draw takes place at the village hall committee meeting (usually the first Tuesday of the month). if you win, a check will be posted to your home address. The names and numbers of each monthly winner will be displayed on the village hall noticeboard. The total prize money will be 50% of the membership fee taken that month. the remaining 50% goes towards the village hall.

Community Garden - your community garden still needs you! Sadly there seems to have been no activity in the community garden since I first asked for volunteers! I managed a little bit of cutting back and weeding a month or so ago, but it desperately needs attention, so here's a little reminder.

For the last couple of years a couple of volunteers have been keeping the community garden (behind the car park, opposite the village hall) looking neat and tidy, but this year there seem to be so many other things demanding our attention that sadly it is getting a bit untidy. It is a community garden for the enjoyment and benefit of all,  so if you can spare the odd hour, or even half hour, every now and then or even as a one off, to do a bit of weeding and/or pruning it would be much appreciated. Please feel free to pop along whenever you can. Cuttings/weeds can be deposited on the compost heap at the far end of the Village Hall field. Please feel free to pop along whenever you can.

Village Hall Committee - We have had just one person interested in joining the Committee and one other has volunteered to help at events since we asked for new members. Our events are well attended by residents, so this must mean that you all appreciate what we are doing and you would like us to continue. However, without more committee members and volunteers to help at these events there is a real risk that we won't be able to carry on. As has been pointed out before, losing the village hall would also mean losing the village hall car park - I'm sure nobody would want to see that happen!

If you are interested in joining the committee or helping out at events please email poughillvillage@gmail.com.

Village Hall Cleaning Rota - we now have 2 volunteers, but would like more please. Here's another reminder.

A couple of years ago (pre-COVID) Alison Mapp organised a rota of volunteers to help with the cleaning of the village hall. Since the advent of COVID, the regular cleaning of the hall, together with the rota of volunteers, has fallen by the wayside. Now that things have thankfully returned to normal and we are trying to run regular events the Village Hall Committee would like to resurrect the cleaning rota if at all possible. We are therefore looking for volunteers to join the rota. Ideally the hall will be cleaned once a month. It should take 2 people no more that 2 hours at the most. All cleaning materials are provided. Obviously the more volunteers we have the less frequently your turn will come around.

Other ways of supporting the Village Hall - Here is a way you can support the Village Hall from the comfort of your own homes.

It's a bit fiddly, but easy once you get the hang of it (and remember to use it!). The easyfundraising site has partnered with over 4,000 big name retailers, such as Sainsbury, Argos, John Lewis, eBay and M&S. Every time you shop online at one of the many retailers the Village Hall will receive a small donation. It’s completely free, so please sign up at www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/poughillvillagehall.

Donations always welcome
